Honda’s lineup sports an impressive collection of prestigious awards, but perhaps one of the most impressive of these belongs to the 2018 Honda Accord, which in January at the North American International Auto Show won the title of 2018 North American Car of the Year.* This is the third year in a row Honda has won a North American “of the Year” award.
The award is an especially interesting achievement for the 2018 Accord, as the sedan had just entered into its 10th generation. That means that from 2017 to 2018, the Accord was completely redesigned, an approach that senior vice president of the Automobile Division and general manager of Honda Sales for American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Henio Arcangeli, Jr., called a “clean-sheet approach.”
Speaking of the Accord and its award, Arcangeli added, “[…] we couldn't be prouder to receive this honor for Accord as the North American Car of the Year. We're especially proud for the production associates in Ohio where Accord has been built to the highest quality standards for over 35 years.”
The North American Car of the Year awardsrecognize “excellence in innovation, design, safety, performance, technology, driver satisfaction and value,” according to the organization’s website. The awards are judged by around 60 professional automotive journalists from across the United States and Canada, each of which works for an independent publication for a diverse juror base. This year’s awards were the 24th year of the accolade’s history.
The 2018 Honda Accord features many updates that helped it win this award. For example, the new Accord features a lighter, more rigid body structure, with two all-new VTEC® Turbo engines, the first 10-speed automatic transmission for a front-wheel drive car, a new generation of Honda’s hybrid drive technology, and a collection of new safety, driver-assistance, and connected car systems.
Finally, the 2018 Honda Accord has one more attractive quality — it is available for a test drive now. Come and see this award-winning vehicle at Avery Greene Honda.
