If you’ve perused the latest Honda lineup, you’ve no doubt witnessed the feature known as Honda Sensing® technology. This suite of advanced driver-assist technology is available in most new Honda vehicles, and standard in some models including the 2018 Honda Accord Sedan. Here’s a closer look at this collection of tools designed to keep you protected and secure.
Lane Departure Warning
This advanced system uses cameras and sensors to monitor the visible lanes on the road. It watches for potential drifting and warns the driver if it notices the vehicle leaving the lane without activating a turn signal.
Road Departure Mitigation System
If the system senses the Honda leaving the road without a turn signal to indicate the intention, it vibrates the steering wheel to alert the driver and auto-corrects the steering, if necessary.
Adaptive Cruise Control
This tool adjusts the vehicle’s speed to the speed of the vehicle in front for a consistent and safe cruise control experience.
Collision Mitigation Braking System™
This system applies emergency braking when it detects an unavoidable front-end collision.
Forward Collision Warning
This tool works with Collision Mitigation Braking System™ to watch for potential collisions in front of the Honda, and will warn the driver when needed.
Honda Lane Watch™
Honda Lane Watch™ employs a camera mounted on the passenger-side mirror to provide the driver with a video on the Display Audio Touch-Screen, for extra visibility when changing into the right lane.
Blind Spot Information System
If the driver turns on their turn signal, this system activates its sensors to look for any potential traffic in the driver’s blind spot, and will blink and beep to alert the driver of a potential collision.
Cross Traffic Monitor
This feature automatically turns on when the Honda is in reverse, and warns the driver of any oncoming traffic that may be approaching from the side.
Auto High-Beam Headlights
This feature senses the level of darkness as well as any obscured road conditions like fog, then automatically triggers the high-beam headlights. It also turns off the headlights when it senses an oncoming vehicle, to prevent blinding other drivers.
